Application:
Mainly used as a raw material for polyester fibres and in other polyester resins, unsaturated polyester resins and 1730 polyester paints. Several types of surfactants can be derived from ethylene glycol and polyethylene glycol. Its dinitro compound, dinitroethanol, is an explosive. Glycol lowers the freezing point of aqueous solutions and is therefore commonly used as an antifreeze.
