Application:
1). Flavorists use it for apple, tomato, pear, melon, and citrus profiles.
2). Fragrance houses use it as a powerful green top note. It adds a dewy, fresh-cut character to citrus and floral blends.
3). Industrial buyers use hexanal as a chemical intermediate. It goes into hexanoic acid, pharmaceuticals, and agrochemicals.
4). It also serves plant biology research as a green leaf volatile.
Storage:
1). Store hexanal in a refrigerator at 2–8 °C. Do not keep it at room temperature. Keep the container tightly closed. Hexanal is air-sensitive.
2). Keep under a nitrogen blanket after every opening. If you decant into smaller bottles, purge them with argon or nitrogen first.
3). Keep away from oxidizers, strong bases, and strong reducing agents. These can trigger reactions.
